Spiritual Warfare Slowed Me Down

Sorry about the “pause” in our current study…I’ve had a rather eventful week. In short, two things happened to slow down our study and impact my ministry at the Womens Bible Cafe™

First, I was hacked. Everywhere…my Twitter and Facebook accounts were hacked. Even my Life-Verse blog was hacked. The one place I was not hacked was my business site…it has 3 layers of security and remains protected.

Next, I was ill and spent 3 days in the hospital. The cortisone shots I received for my frozen shoulder and fasting 40 days until supper sent my body into “hypoglycemia.” In the emergency room I passed out and I hit the floor hard! I remember telling the nurse that I felt light headed and had not eaten. Once my chin hit the floor, I was given pink glucose drinks and my finger was pricked for blood every few hours.

Slowly I am finding the energy to write, tweet, and balance the blood sugar problem. Meanwhile, I will continue to write blog updates. Beginning tomorrow. I’m reading my workbook and will post updates once again.

Please pray for health as I recover from this interruption.

Carpool Prayer and a Ring

Carpool Prayer and a Ring

Carpool Prayer and a Ring

Does God hear the prayers of a child?

On the way to school this morning, my middle school daughter tells me she’s not sure what school she wants to attend next year. She has been in Christian schools since preschool and she is entering the seventh grade. I told her to pray about it, then shared the story from the Voice Of God Bible Study by Priscilla Shirer.

In the audio lesson, Priscilla Shirer describes the power of prayer when she was praying about what college to attend. My younger daughter, Little Barista, then said she was not sure if she wants to go back to Christian school next year, and so she too agreed to pray about it.

In the afternoon carpool, Little Barista is so excited she can barely stand it. She hugs me tight and tells me “today has been the most amazing and best day of my life.” She’s in second grade. She goes on to say that something wonderful happened and she wants to wait and tell me in the car. Two seconds later, she tells me in the middle of an empty playground.

“Mom,” she squeals. “Today after school, this boy asked me if I wanted to be his girlfriend, and I said yes.” Smiling, I tell her that must feel wonderful. Then she reaches into her pocket and pulls out her “ring.”

“Look what he gave me, Mom, a ring!” Again I smile and tell her how pretty it is…from the candy machine, still wrapped in its plastic bubble. Memories of my childhood spring up too.

When we get to the car, she calls her Dad and her best friend on the cell phone and shares her excitement. We agree not to tell her older sister, avoiding a conflict. After she calms down, she says “Mom, I think God just told me where he wants me to go to school next year! He wants me to stay here.”‘

I should mention one important detail…the ring is from the Pastor’s eight-year-old son.
