Change Your Voice

Let’s listen for the voice of God.

If you want to change your voice, turn off the news. Turn on podcasts about faith, health, business, and growth. Positive news! Listen once a day for a week. Out of your mouth will come words of value instead of words of division and fear.

If you want a better vocabulary, read a book each day. Try reading a chapter a day or 20 minutes a day before bed. Expose yourself to written words and train your eyes to see sentence structures. Set a goal of one book a month or 52 books in a year. Join a book club for motivation and socialization. I’ve led numerous book club discussions and enjoyed them immensely.

Listen to free audiobooks from your library. Take a daily walk on your treadmill, at the park, or on the beach. Listen to your audiobooks and expand your communication skills. If the book or podcast is loaded with F-bombs and cuss words, anger, and division, close the book or turn off the podcast. Otherwise, you will adopt the language of offense.

In high school, my nephew listened to financial podcasts. Each day he wrote a podcast quote on a whiteboard in his bedroom. He meditated on those quotes. Now, he is completing a business degree in college and pursuing a career with a “language” he loves.

As pursue my writing career, I have been listening to podcasts about the art of writing books. Listening to published authors, literary agents, and editors have given me a “seat at their table.” This has helped me understand the terminology, challenges, and blessings of writing books.

In my leadership career, I have read books about marketing, communication, administration, social media, and organizations. Then, I created my voice in partnership with Jesus. Because I founded the first online Bible studies, there was no leader for me to follow. So as I prayed and entered unchartered territory, I followed the Holy Spirit for my ministry.

With these methods, I educated myself, tested my ideas, make mistakes, and saw success! Several popular ministries today joined my groups to observe what I was doing, and then replicated that success. It’s a huge blessing to the Kingdom of God…to see Him magnify ministries and make disciples around the world.

Many people joined my leadership coaching program. When I realized people needed direction in launching a course or book club, I started formally teaching them my methods. And they have replicated those methods to achieve great success for the Kingdom of God.

Today I witness the expansion of God’s voice through His Holy Bible. I am delighted to see more of Him, less of me (refer. to John 3:30). But to magnify His voice, we need discipleship ministries. Are you the next voice people will hear?

Let’s be visible for Christ. Turn your calling into ministry.
